Boston Kings Week 1 PLL Spring League Recap

A great 9-2 week out of the gates for The Boston Kings!

The top club league in New England lived up to billing in week one. Providing our Boston Kings spring teams with some great competition and great games.

See below for game recaps and Player of the Game recipients!

  • Boston Kings 2028 Blue: Our youngest team (3rd graders) shook the rust off with two wins on the day! Coach Nutley’s army was getting after it!
    • Beating The Cape Cod Kings 12-8 in the opener. A back and forth game that ended with late offensive push to solidify the win.
      • Player of the Game: Tommy Lally (Norwell Youth Lax)
    • Second game was another hard-fought win vs The Rhode Island Bulldogs. Some key defensive stops late in the game were the key to the win.
      • Player of the Game: Ciaran Lombard (Cohasset Youth Lax)
  • Boston Kings 2027 Blue: A great opening effort in all phases of the game (especially defense!), led to a complete 11-0 win vs The Twisters. Coach Perry’s two cents – “We got better every quarter. All a coach can ask!”
    • Player of the Game: Tucker Cashman (Hingham Youth Lacrosse)
  • Boston Kings 2026 Green: A double-header up in New Hampshire led to two great wins! Coach Tierney’s enthusiastic report to Kings headquarters… “That’s the most fun I have ever had coaching a Kings team!”. Doesn’t get any better than that!
    • Game One was a complete win vs NH Tomahawks 11-3.
      • Player of the Game: Pat Geary (Scituate Youth Lacrosse)
    • Game Two was a defensive battle that ended with a great game-winning goal by Matt Dedecko. Beating Houlagan’s 5-4.
      • Player of the Game: Matt Dedecko (Barnstable Youth Lax)
  • Boston Kings 2026 Blue: Strong showing against a quality Cape Cod Kings team 13-0. Coach Bill Daye’s squad earned the shutout with great defense and good ball-movement on offense.
    • Player of the Game: Peter Cappadona (Scituate Youth Lax)
  • Boston Kings 2025 Green: Outmatched physically playing an older and strong 2024 Central Kings team, they battled the whole game to an 11-5 loss. Coach Weck and Coach O’Neil were blown away by the effort and see big things on the horizon for this squad.
    • Player of the Game: Andrew Snyder (Norwell Youth Lax)
  • Boston Kings 2025 Blue: In what was maybe the game of the day, our boys barely outlasted a very strong Twister team and won 9-8. The Twisters scored the last 4 goals of the game, but came up just short in the end. Not the prettiest win, but Coach Traynor and Coach Todd definitely feel like there was a lot of positives to build on in a very competitive 2025 PLL AA Division.
    • Player of the Game: George Kelly (Scituate Youth Lax)
  • Boston Kings 2024 Blue: A wire to wire effort solidified a 12-5 win vs a strong Rhode Island Bulldogs team. Coach Quinn and Lally are really pushing this team to play smarter in all areas, and they responded right out of the gate.
    • Player of the Game: Jack Regan (Plymouth Youth Lax)
  • Boston Kings 2023 Green: A furious 4th quarter comeback, vs a very athletic and well-rounded Cape Kings squad, came up just short. Ending with an 8-7 road loss. Coach Dan Daley and Brian Connerty are chomping at the bit to get back out there this Saturday and pick up where they left off in the 4th quarter!
    • Player of the Game: Andrew Tilton (Kingston Youth Lax)
  • Boston Kings 2023 Blue: Coach McGuirk and Maroney couldn’t ask for a better opening to the spring. Versus a very good Twisters team, we got better every quarter in every phase of the game. Great defense, dominating face offs (thanks again Johhny Mullen!), and balanced/smart offensive performance; all contributed to a solid 8-5 win.
    • Player of the Game: Ryan Daly (Norwell Youth Lax)

Important Spring Notes:

  • Boston Kings spring league play does not conflict with town lacrosse. In the spring, we want all players giving their town teams priority and getting the most out of all the great things that town lax offers.
  • The PLL Spring League is an invite-only club league featuring most of the top club programs in New England.
    • Notably: Kings Lacrosse (all 4 regions), New Hampshire Tomahawks, 3d New England, New England Twisters, Rhode Island Bulldogs, and Houlagans (NH).
